Custom Downhole Tool Components in China: SWS Supports Small-Batch OEM Machining

Jiangsu Service Petroleum Technology Co., Ltd. (SWS) welcomes drawing-based inquiries for custom oilfield components, including special materials, customer-supplied stock and quantities of only one to three pieces.

For buyers developing or maintaining downhole tools, finding a manufacturing partner can be difficult when an order combines special materials, custom threads and small quantities. A standard product catalogue may not cover the requirement, while a manufacturer’s minimum order quantity may exceed the number of parts needed.

SWS’s experience includes a single Alloy 925 mandrel, small batches of threaded hangers, and custom aluminum and copper-alloy completion-tool components. These projects reflect the type of manufacturing support we offer to overseas buyers.

A Single Part Is Welcome for Review

One completed SWS job involved a customer-supplied Alloy 925 mandrel ordered as a single piece. The component required different threaded connections at its two ends, with the machining requirements defined by the customer’s drawing.

Other work has included Alloy 718 and 17-4PH hangers, as well as TC4 titanium flexible rods, anti-drop rods and wear pads.

For customers with similar requirements, these examples provide a practical starting point for discussing materials, component geometry and the operations needed. Orders of one to three pieces are welcome for feasibility review.

Special Materials and Custom Connections

SWS’s machining and threading experience covers Alloy 718, Alloy 925, Alloy 825, 17-4PH, L80-13Cr, Super 13Cr and TC4, alongside alloy steels including 4330V and 4145H.

Our work also includes 7075-T6 and 6061-T6 aluminum components and custom copper-alloy parts.

Where a component requires a Chinese premium connection, SWS reviews the applicable threading authorization together with the drawing and material requirements. Supporting surface-treatment operations can also be assessed as part of the supply scope.

Material grades, conditions, dimensions and processing requirements are confirmed individually for each inquiry.

Manufacturing Support Starts with Drawing Review

During previous aluminum component work for an overseas completion-tool customer, SWS identified hole-location information requiring clarification and dimensions that needed checking between drawings and reference models.

These questions were referred to the customer before the affected machining operations proceeded. Manufacturing followed the latest approved drawings.
